“Interconnectedness”

by Rachael Kurjacovic

Inspired by Walt Whitman's Song of Myself, and the transcendentalist belief of the interconnectedness of all things, this baroque charm necklace symbolizes both small and substantial minutiae that make up the known universe and hints to the unknown. Hanging from a spinal cord cast from Stone Age snake vertebrae are changeable symbols. Included in this iteration an Orchard Orb Weaver (the spider weaving the great web of life), a child's first lost tooth, a meteorite, a resin cast gel nail, coral, and a ruby encrusted pomegranate.
