Fairytales began as dark lessons, evolving over the years into magical adventures with happy endings. Drawn to the transformation of these fables, I’ve illustrated in three rings the story of a woman who hides her secret behind a velvet ribbon. The first is a silver ribbon wedding band, the second a nod back to the French Revolution origins of the story. The final ring is where I intersect with this progression, evoking the pegboard walls of the basement where I first heard this ghostly tale.
